We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team in Cleveland, Ohio. This critical role involves providing specialized care to a diverse patient population recovering from complex surgical procedures and traumatic injuries.
The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, implementation of critical care interventions, and continuous monitoring of patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This position requires a strong commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice.
You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and execute individualized care plans, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and a supportive healing environment within our acute care facility.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct clinical care to surgical and trauma ICU patients, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for efficacy and adverse reactions.
Manage complex medical equipment, including ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, and infusion pumps.
Perform continuous patient monitoring, interpret vital signs, and recognize changes in patient condition requiring immediate intervention.
Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, residents, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, procedures, and post-discharge care.
Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and maintain a safe patient care environment.
Required Qualifications
Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year of recent experience in a Trauma or Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in critical care nursing principles and practices.
Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-stress environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Familiarity with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic).
Experience with medication dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis).
Proficiency with communication platforms (e.g., Vocera) and professional email (e.g., Outlook).
Physical ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk throughout the day.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 250 lbs. with assistance.
