This care is provided according to the philosophy and goals of the Department of Nursing. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for all patients assigned to their care. Utilizing Jean Watson's Theory of Caring and Relationship-Based Care, the RN promotes, maintains, and restores health. Care is tailored to meet the specific physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the patient. The RN consistently demonstrates the ability to apply the nursing process grounded in Relationship-Based Care principles. Nursing diagnosis is formulated through observation and interpretation of information from clients and the health team. A collaborative care plan is developed with the client ensuring their safety, comfort, hygiene, and protection. The RN performs essential nursing skills and explains treatment to clients and families. Evaluating the effectiveness of the care plan is done through ongoing observations and communication with the health team. The RN is knowledgeable about safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications. Tasks are delegated to care team members based on their scope of practice and ability. The RN acts as an advocate for the client, facilitating informed decision-making regarding health care. Providing culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards is essential. The RN coordinates patient care activities with nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals. Effective communication skills are utilized to facilitate safe patient handoffs. Documentation of nursing care follows hospital policies and procedures. Manual and automated information systems are used to improve efficiency. The RN is committed to ensuring positive patient care experiences through individual interactions. Assistance in resolving complaints is aimed at immediate resolution when possible. Investigation of complaints from various stakeholders is conducted, and information is communicated to management. Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills are required. All physical duties of the job, including lifting, bending, and standing, must be performed. Completion of annual organizational requirements for employment is mandatory.
