Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Pending License accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: Strong cardiac knowledge required Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in the Intensive Care Unit. The nurse will work a night shift of 12 hours. Experience in medical and surgical intensive care is essential. The nurse will care for patients with respiratory failure, cardiac conditions, multi-organ failure, and sepsis. The nurse will manage ventilated patients, administer medications, and monitor hemodynamic status. Skills required include the interpretation of dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases. The nurse will float within the service line to meet facility needs. Weekend availability is necessary, with every other weekend required. The ratio of patients to nurses is 1:2. BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory. First-time travelers are not accepted for this position. The scope of care includes pre- and post-operative management for various surgeries. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The work environment includes the use of advanced medical technology and monitoring equipment. Infection prevention and isolation precautions are also part of the responsibilities. This position does not require on-call duties. Additional skills that are preferred include managing chest tubes and using high flow nasal cannula. The nurse will participate in end-of-life care and organ donation processes. Flexibility to work additional shifts may be necessary based on unit needs. Documentation will be performed using an electronic health record system.
