Join our dedicated team as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse in Waimea, Hawaii. This critical role involves providing comprehensive, age-appropriate nursing care to a diverse patient population, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric individuals. Our 4-bed ICU/CCU specializes in caring for surgical patients and those with serious respiratory and/or cardiac conditions requiring advanced monitoring and intervention.
You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality patient care, maintaining a patient ratio of 1:2, with additional support provided for high-acuity cases such as ventilated patients. This position requires flexibility, including providing after-hours PACU recovery and floating to other units like OB, Medical-Surgical (MS), PACU, and Emergency Room (ER) based on your competency level.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and provide individualized, age-appropriate nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU/CCU.
Manage and monitor patients with complex surgical, respiratory, and/or cardiac conditions.
Maintain a patient ratio of 1:2, adjusting care based on patient acuity and unit needs.
Provide after-hours Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) recovery services.
Float to other hospital units, including Obstetrics (OB), Medical-Surgical (MS), PACU, and Emergency Room (ER), as per individual competency and unit requirements.
Ensure accurate documentation and communication of patient status and care plans.
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Critical Care Unit (CCU) setting.
Ability to work 80 hours every two weeks, without exception.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Emergency Room (ER) experience.
Skills & Competencies
Advanced critical thinking and clinical assessment skills.
Proficiency in managing complex respiratory and cardiac conditions.
Experience with critical care equipment (e.g., ventilators, cardiac monitors, IV pumps).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
