Registered Nurse - Neuro/Trauma Intensive Care Unit (NT/SICU)
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse for a Neuro/Trauma Intensive Care Unit (NT/SICU) assignment in Chico, California. This specialized 12-bed unit operates as a Level II trauma center, maintaining a 2:1 patient ratio to ensure high-quality, focused care for critically ill patients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to a complex patient population primarily consisting of neuro/trauma cases. This includes managing patients with advanced monitoring such as ICP monitors, CRRT, and lumbar drains. Adaptability is key, as floating to other critical care units (Cardiovascular Unit, Telemetry Care Unit, ICU/CCU) or Medical-Surgical units may be required based on facility needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct, high-acuity nursing care to neuro/trauma critical care patients.
Manage and monitor patients requiring specialized interventions, including ICP monitors, CRRT, and lumbar drains.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment while adhering to a 2:1 patient ratio in a Level II trauma setting.
Accurately document all patient care, assessments, and interventions using the EPIC electronic health record system.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to float to other critical care or medical-surgical units as operational needs dictate.
Required Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN)
Minimum 5 years of acute critical care experience, with demonstrated experience in a Level II trauma setting.
Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record (EHR) system.
Previous travel nursing experience.
