The Role

Our client, an acute care hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Intensive Care Unit team. This is a full-time permanent position delivering skilled critical care nursing to haemodynamically complex, mechanically ventilated, and medically unstable patients. The successful candidate will work as part of a high-performing interdisciplinary ICU team committed to evidence-based practice, patient safety, and compassionate family-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled, evidence-based nursing care for critically ill adult patients across a range of diagnoses
  • Manage complex patient presentations including haemodynamic instability, mechanical ventilation, and multi-organ system support
  • Continuously monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, haemodynamic parameters, and laboratory trends; respond to changes promptly
  • Administer vasoactive drips, sedation, analgesia, and complex IV therapies per physician orders and ICU protocols
  • Collaborate with intensivists, physicians, pharmacists, respiratory therapy, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Maintain accurate, thorough clinical documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Support families through critical illness with clear, compassionate communication and education
  • Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and evidence-based practice within the ICU
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, Joint Commission standards, and all applicable regulatory requirements

Requirements

Must-Have

  • Current New Mexico RN licence (or compact licence eligibility)
  • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) minimum; BSN preferred
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required within 6 months of hire
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 6 months of hire

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Minimum 1 year of ICU or critical care nursing experience
  • CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification advantageous
  • Experience with mechanical ventilation, haemodynamic monitoring, and vasoactive drip management
