Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Med Surg ICU setting serving adult and pediatric patients (15+ years) with diagnoses including respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, GI bleeds, and cancer-specific surgeries
Titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
Manage and monitor lines and devices including CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, and ICP monitoring; operate equipment such as Zoll Thermoguard and Bell Mont rapid transfuser
Read and interpret cardiac telemetry using Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry; no monitor techs on unit — RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own strips
Float to all inpatient units as needed, excluding Maternity/NICU
Collaborate with attendings, fellows, and residents in a team-oriented environment focused on high-quality patient care
Required Qualifications
Active RN license
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Ability to titrate drips and manage critically ill patients independently
Must be able to read and interpret cardiac monitor strips
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Candidates may not currently hold full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; compliance is required as a condition of the contract
Must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with neuro surgery or neurovascular interventions (e.g., thrombectomy programs)
Familiarity with advanced hemodynamic support including Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump, or CRRT
Experience in a high-volume tertiary or academic medical center environment
Strong critical thinking skills with a collaborative, team-first approach
