Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 4x12 available upon request
Key Responsibilities
Float across ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg units as staffing needs are re-evaluated every four hours; traveler may float two to three times per shift
Provide direct patient care in ICU (2:1 ratio), PCU (5:1 ratio), and Med-Surg (up to 6:1, may flex to 7:1) settings
Administer IV therapy, blood products, continuous IV sedation, and vasoactive/cardiac drips with titration as ordered
Manage central lines, PICC lines, arterial lines, tracheostomies, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), and non-invasive airway support including CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
Perform cardiac monitoring and administer emergency medications as required by patient acuity
Document all patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health record system
Required Qualifications
Active Virginia State RN license or valid Compact RN license required at time of submission (pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience in a large Level I or Level II facility
Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system required
Comfortable and experienced working across ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg units with patient ratios of at least 1:5
Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify; limited exceptions may apply for candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away for a single 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with phlebotomy and PICC line management in a high-acuity inpatient setting
Familiarity with trach management and advanced airway support modalities in an ICU environment
Prior travel nursing experience across multiple inpatient specialties
