Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM) | Every other weekend required | Holidays rotated with permanent staff
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in an 11-bed ICU with all private rooms at a 1:1–2 nurse-to-patient ratio
Manage complex patients including open heart, general surgery, STEMIs, strokes, vents, chest tubes, art lines, swan-ganz catheters, CRRT, and impellas
Administer and monitor vasoactive and critical drips including dopamine, levophed, epinephrine, nitroglycerin, and others
Read and interpret telemetry strips independently on night shift (monitor tech available on day shift only); utilize Phillips monitoring system
Mix medications as needed on night shift when off-site pharmacy coverage is in effect after 10:00 PM
Float to telemetry (1:4 ratio) or medical-surgical (1:5 ratio) units as needed; charge nurse responsibilities may include carrying a small patient load
Required Qualifications
Active RN license valid in California
ACLS certification required
BLS certification required
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
Hands-on experience with chest tubes, arterial lines, and swan-ganz catheters required
