Travel RN – Critical Care (ICU)

Contract | 13-Week Travel Assignment | Full-Time | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process — including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned ICU patients.
  • Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
  • Manage a high-acuity patient population including DKA, post-STEMI, stroke (s/p TNK), intubated/vented patients, ARDS, MODS, CHF exacerbation, COPD exacerbation, GI bleeds, renal failure (CRRT/SLED), liver failure, IABP, and Impella support.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and connect with appropriate resources.
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN license in the state of Texas or a valid compact state license.
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association only).
  • Current ACLS certification (American Heart Association only).
  • Several years of ICU/Critical Care nursing experience required.
  • Proficiency with EPIC EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems.
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and ability to manage high-acuity, complex patient conditions independently.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Experience with CRRT/SLED, IABP, and Impella devices.
  • Proficiency with Excel for scheduling purposes.
  • Demonstrated competencies in clinical inquiry, collaboration, diversity responsiveness, systems thinking, and patient advocacy.
