Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care across a high acuity float pool encompassing Critical Care, Telemetry, Progressive Care, Med/Surg, Oncology, Neurosurgery, Thoracic Surgery, Ortho Surgery, Short Stay Surgery, General Surgery, and Observation units
Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1–2 in critical care settings, adjusting to 1–3 based on patient acuity and transfer orders, in accordance with AACN CCU staffing standards
Titrate vasoactive and sedation drips including Epinephrine, Norepinephrine, Dobutamine, Propofol, Esmolol, Hydromorphone, Midazolam, and CIS
Operate and monitor respiratory therapy equipment including mechanical ventilators, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, and CPAP
Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips using Philips monitoring systems alongside monitor technician support
Receive unit assignments via charge RN at shift start and collaborate with nurse aides and interdisciplinary team members to deliver safe, high-quality care
Required Qualifications
Active Washington State RN license or valid Compact RN license
Minimum 2 years of ICU / critical care nursing experience
Prior float pool, multi-facility, or cross-unit floating experience required
Proficiency with Epic electronic health records required
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
Demonstrated ability to titrate drips and manage high-acuity medical, surgical, neurological, and cardiac patient populations
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with device management in a critical care setting (with ability to be checked off on devices if recent and comfortable)
Familiarity with Philips monitoring systems and cardiac strip interpretation
High acuity float pool or travel nursing background
