Description:
The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies and procedures.
Utilizes the nursing process to care for patients.
Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
Documents steps of the nursing process.
Utilizes proper medical terminology.
Addresses problems and monitors progress toward goals.
Facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate.
Supports unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities, as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting education standards, and completing variance reports.
Exhibits independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
Coordinates activities of others but does not supervise.
Leads others in the same work performed but does not supervise.
Works directly with patients and/or customers.
Interacts with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face.
Engages with external customers via telephone or face-to-face.
Collaborates frequently with healthcare professionals and staff.
Interacts regularly with individuals at the Director level or above.
