Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a 42-bed ICU setting with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2, and up to 1:3 when no vents or drips are present
Manage and titrate a broad range of critical care drips including vasopressors, inotropes, antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, sedatives, paralytics, analgesics, and anticoagulants
Care for complex patient populations including cardiac, respiratory, sepsis, DKA, CHF, and Level 3 trauma cases
Collaborate with an intensivist-led team available 24/7, respiratory therapy, PCAs, and unit support staff to deliver comprehensive critical care
Assist with bedside procedures including tracheostomies in coordination with RT and the medical team
Float to other units as needed, maintaining a reduced patient load of up to 4 patients when floating
Required Qualifications
Active RN licensure
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
Proficiency with Epic EMR (recent experience required)
Recent experience in a Trauma Level I or II hospital setting
Demonstrated experience with mechanical ventilation, sedation management, vasopressors, sepsis protocols, DKA, cardiac care, CHF, and respiratory management
Must reside or be willing to comply with a 100-mile radius requirement
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with cardiac-specific interventions such as balloon pumps, Impella, and tPA administration
Familiarity with therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
Well-rounded experience with a wide variety of titratable critical care drips across multiple drug classes
