# Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Neuro Stepdown – North Carolina
Start Date: September 28, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), 36 or 48-hour weekly schedules available. Minimum of 3 weekend shifts required every six weeks. No on-call requirement. Float rotation to other intermediate and critical care areas as needed.

- Specialized neuro stepdown unit with intermediate medical patient population including stroke, traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, spinal cord injury, and aneurysm care
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio on a 24-bed progressive care unit
- Epic EMR system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, rapid response, respiratory services, and lift teams
- Contract lengths from 16 weeks up to February 27, 2027 available to support through the holiday season
- Comprehensive 32-hour orientation including computer training and unit-based shifts

Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of recent progressive care/stepdown nursing experience required
- Neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or telemetry experience strongly preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Epic charting system experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficiency in vasoactive drip titration (including Levophed), cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and critical care skills
- Demonstrated competency in neurological assessment and post-neurosurgery care, TPA administration, lumbar drains, and seizure management
- Experience with ventilated patients, advanced airway management including BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
- Advanced IV therapy skills including central line/PICC management, blood product administration, and peripheral IV insertion
- Knowledge of heparin protocols, IV insulin titration, CBI, pre/post hemodialysis care, and feeding tube management
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
- Adherence to attendance policy is strictly enforced
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Preferred Qualifications:
- CCRN, TNCC, or CPI certification
- Port access experience and phlebotomy skills
- ICP monitoring, conscious sedation, triage, or charge nurse experience
