Job Details:
• Evening/Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required
• Day/Evening shift: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required
• Traveler will work in both D6/5 IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care unit and B4/3 IMC Thoracic unit
• Patient ratio is 3:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Care for patients including those with lung and esophageal diseases, lobectomies, decortications, esophagectomies, and other thoracic procedures
• Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion in the procedure room located within the unit
• Floating to other units is required as needed
• Minimum 2 years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last 3 years in the specialty required
• Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
• Ventilator and transplant experience required
• ICU or IMC and surgical post-op experience required
• Thoracic experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Must be comfortable working with adult and geriatric patient populations
• Charting system experience required; Epic charting system
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher; traveler has two attempts to pass
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA only)
• Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license required
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tubes, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, PCA, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, pre/post hemodialysis management, starting and maintaining IVs, surgical drains, telemetry monitoring, titration of vasoactive and insulin drips, TR Band, use of rapid response/code teams, and wound care/wound vac
