Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) Progressive Care / Telemetry – Wisconsin

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Patient ratio 1:3. Orientation: 36 hours.
Highlights
- Work in a prestigious Magnet-designated academic medical center and Level I Trauma facility
- Provide specialized care in a 29-bed Progressive Care/IMC unit serving thoracic, cardiac, telemetry oncology, and post-transplant patient populations
- Collaborative interdisciplinary environment with strong nursing advocacy and professional autonomy
- Care for complex patient populations including cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant patients
- Epic charting system with comprehensive support services including IV teams, respiratory therapy, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- Float between two IMC units providing acute medical/progressive care and thoracic specialty care
Requirements
- Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact State RN license
- BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years
- Required experience: PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Telemetry Oncology, Cardiac care
- Ventilator management and transplant care experience required
- Level I or Level II Trauma Center experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Must successfully pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (strict passing criteria: 100% identification of lethal rhythms, 80% overall score)
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
Core Skills & Competencies
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management including BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula
- Post-transplant care protocols and management
- Central line, PICC line, and arterial line management
- Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac systems)
- Titration of cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin protocols
- Blood product administration and pre/post hemodialysis management
- Care of patients with traumatic brain injury, CVA, spinal cord injury, and renal failure
- Advanced wound care including wound vac and skin grafts
