Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Heart and Vascular Intermediate Care – Wisconsin
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 8 or 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday with every other weekend required. Patient ratio 1:4 across all shifts.
Highlights
Work in a 15-bed Heart and Vascular Intermediate Care Unit at a Magnet-designated, Level 1 trauma center ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
Care for vascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and cardiology patients at intermediate and general levels of care
Gain experience with diverse patient populations including AAA repairs, carotid endarterectomies, cardiac surgery stepdown patients, lytic therapies, and amputations
Epic charting system with 36 hours of orientation provided
Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
Participate in shared governance and unit-based councils driving quality improvement initiatives and practice change
Requirements
Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
BLS and ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association only)
Minimum 2 years of acute care MS/Telemetry experience within the last 3 years
Required skills include telemetry monitoring, arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, interpretation of dysrhythmias and ABGs, titration of vasoactive and insulin drips, and post-cardiac angiogram care
Experience with chest tubes, feeding tubes, temporary external pacing wires, PCAs, and wound care/wound vac
Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
Must pass telemetry exam prior to start with strict passing criteria (80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility
Floating to other units as needed required
