# Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Neuro Stepdown / Progressive Care – North CarolinaStart Date: October 19, 2026Location: Charlotte, North CarolinaCompensation: Details provided to qualified applicantsSchedule: 4 x 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15); 1:4 patient ratio; minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeks; floating to other intermediate and critical care areas as neededHighlights:- Specialized neuro stepdown unit with 24-bed capacity serving intermediate neurological and medical patient populations- Comprehensive patient case mix including stroke, TBI, craniotomy, aneurysm repair, intracranial bleeds, spinal cord injuries, and seizure disorders- Epic charting system with full interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams- 32-hour orientation includes computer training and unit-specific clinical shifts- Contract length flexible from 16+ weeks through February 27, 2027- Weekend requirement: 3 shifts per six-week period; no on-call requirementRequirements:- Current NC or Compact RN license- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience with neuro stepdown strongly preferred- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted- Active certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (required); CCRN, TNCC, CPI (preferred)- Epic EMR experience required- Must pass facility EKG competency testing prior to start date- Demonstrated proficiency in titrating vasoactive drips including Levophed, cardiac drips, and insulin protocols- Advanced critical care skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, ventilator care, chest tube management, arterial line care, central line management, and blood product administration- Experience with neurological assessments and interventions including post-TPA care, lumbar drains, ICP monitoring (preferred), craniotomy care, and traumatic brain injury management- Competency in respiratory support modalities including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation- Strong teamwork orientation and professional communication skills- Ability to adhere to strict attendance and call-off policiesWhy It's a Great Opportunity:This position offers the chance to work with a complex and rewarding neuro stepdown patient population in a well-supported progressive care environment.
