Travel Nurse RN - Intermediate Care - $3,391 per week in Madison, WI

Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit / Stepdown RN – Wisconsin

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM). Monday through Friday with every other weekend or as needed to meet scheduling requirements, including some holidays. Alternative 4x12 schedule available (Thursday-Sunday) for interested candidates.

Highlights:

• Work in a fast-paced, 26-bed stepdown unit within a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and academic medical facility
• Care for both general care and IMC level acutely ill surgical and trauma adult patients in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
• Patient ratios typically 1:3 for both IMC (14 beds) and general care (12 beds); may vary up to 1:5 based on unit needs
• EPIC charting system utilized; 36 hours of orientation provided
• Strong interdisciplinary support including IV Teams, Respiratory Services, Physical Therapy, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and more

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Wisconsin or Compact state licensure)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown and telemetry within the last 3 years
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association ONLY)
• EPIC charting experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Must pass facility telemetry examination prior to start date with strict passing criteria
• Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Floating to other units as needed is required
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Required Clinical Skills:

• Cardiac telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Central line and PICC line management
• Arterial line management and interpretation of ABGs
• Titration of cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
• Blood product administration and heparin protocols
• Care of ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, and high-flow nasal cannula
• Tracheostomy care and management
• Port access and management, chest tube management
• Pre/post surgical care including neurosurgery and orthopedic trauma
• Wound care/wound vac management

Testing Requirements:

All candidates must successfully pass a telemetry examination prior to assignment start. The exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms (ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole), zero incorrect answers on 3rd-degree heart block questions, and an overall passing score of 80% or higher. Two attempts are allowed; additional requirements apply if further attempts are needed.
