Travel RN – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) / PCU Stepdown

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 40-bed cardiovascular and vascular surgery stepdown unit serving a primary population that includes open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomy patients
- Manage care for overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses including heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and related conditions
- Perform and oversee unit-level procedures including epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
- Maintain a 1:5 patient-to-RN ratio and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including PCTs and HUCs
- Document accurately and efficiently using Cerner EMR
- Float as needed to stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding units per facility guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Stepdown (PCU/IMC) experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Ability to work a minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week schedule period and flexibility to work holidays
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery patient population experience within the past year (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
- CVICU experience
- Familiarity with Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps
