Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a 25-bed Progressive Care Unit serving a heavy neurology/neurosurgery, craniectomy, orthopedic, and trauma patient population
Manage RN patient ratios of 1:5–6, delivering safe and effective care across assigned caseloads
Administer and monitor drips including Heparin, PCAs, and 3% Sodium (no titration required)
Operate and monitor specialty equipment including telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo devices
Perform EKG strip reading, measuring, and telemetry monitoring
Float across multiple hospital campuses as assigned
Required Qualifications
Minimum 24 months of recent experience in a Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care setting within a hospital or medical center
Neurology/neurosurgery care experience required
Orthopedic/ortho care experience required
Drip experience required: Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium/Na
EKG/strip reading and telemetry experience required
Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license required at time of submission
Active AHA or ARC ACLS certification required
Active AHA or ARC BLS certification required
EPIC EMR experience required
Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the previous 12 months (no first-time travelers)
Valid Driver's License required
Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (based on driver's license)
Must be available to work 1–2 of the following summer holidays unless the unit is closed: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day
Preferred Experience / Skills
Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
Experience with specialty equipment including telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo highly preferred
NIHSS certification preferred (may be obtained during onboarding)
De-escalation certificate preferred (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA accepted)
