Provide direct patient care in a Step Down / PCU setting, managing a diverse patient population including sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and surgical cases (urology, abdominal, ortho)
Initiate, titrate, and monitor drips including insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips
Perform telemetry interpretation and pass required tele competency assessments
Float within skillset as needed, including potential cross-campus float with a minimum of 2 hours notice
Adhere to every third weekend and every other holiday rotation requirements
May be required to precept nursing students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of Step Down / PCU experience
At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
Current active compact RN license
AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Recent Epic EMR experience required
Demonstrated ability to interpret telemetry and manage drips (insulin, heparin, cardiac)
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, continuous BiPap, and blood product administration
Familiarity with stable home vents, stable drips (Lasix, Protonix), and neutropenic precautions
Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
Collaborative, team-oriented attitude with excellent interpersonal skills
