Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location

Kearney, NE | Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Minimum of 2 holidays within the contract period

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed PCU unit serving adult patients with cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, respiratory, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure diagnoses
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:4–5 and collaborate with nurse aides/patient care techs (1:12 ratio)
• Titrate drips including Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin; competency in Arterial Lines is required
• Read and independently interpret telemetry monitor strips
• Manage high-flow oxygen equipment and troubleshoot as needed
• Float as needed to MedSurg or ICU (for PCU-acuity patients); serve a culturally diverse patient population including primarily Hispanic and Somalian communities

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Competency in Arterial Line management
• Must successfully pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required for contract continuation
• All requested time off (7 days or fewer per 13-week contract) must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior PCU, stepdown, or IMC nursing experience
• Experience caring for cardiac, stroke, and complex medical-surgical patient populations
• Familiarity with titratable drip management in a monitored care setting
• Strong communication skills with experience serving diverse cultural populations
