Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | 36 Guaranteed Hours per Week

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in a Step Down unit managing a patient population that includes cardiac (post-cath stents/interventions, pacers), CIWA/behavioral health, sepsis, DKA, CVA, CPAP, feeding tubes, post-craniotomy, GI bleeds, and hypothermic patients
  • Perform telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation; initiate and titrate drips including antiarrhythmics, Heparin, and Insulin
  • Conduct post-surgical assessments, NIHSS/neuro assessments, and dysphagia screenings
  • Float within skillset to other campus locations as needed, with a minimum of 2 hours notice provided for cross-campus floats
  • Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements (three weekends per six-week schedule; every other holiday)
  • May be required to precept students and new hires in this teaching facility environment
Required Qualifications
  • Current, active compact RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 full year of Step Down experience
  • Minimum 1 prior travel assignment completed
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience with stable home vents, PleurX drains, pericardial drains, lumbar drains, and VP shunts
  • Experience managing Narcan drips
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage change effectively
