Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a mixed-acuity unit encompassing Medical Surgical, Telemetry, and Stepdown levels within a 48-bed Neurology and Neurosurgery setting
Care for a specialized patient population including strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, and other neurological conditions, including patients requiring long-term EEG monitoring
Manage patient assignments at established unit ratios (MS/Tele 1:5 days / 1:6 nights; Stepdown 1:3–4); be prepared to care for up to six Med Surg patients as staffing requires
Administer and monitor IV drips as required across all floors
Document all patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
Float within scope to other units or campuses as needed to meet facility staffing needs
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or pending RN license for the state of Nebraska (pending licenses accepted; if not in hand at time of submission, start date will be scheduled six weeks out)
Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting
Proficiency with EPIC charting — prior EPIC experience is required
Demonstrated experience administering IV drips
Willingness and ability to float to other units and campuses within scope of practice
Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility (local candidates are not accepted)
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
Background in Neurology, Neurosurgery, or a related specialty
Familiarity with long-term EEG monitoring environments
