Provide nursing care for patients with moderate physiologic instability, including those with COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF, and tracheostomy needs on an 18-bed Progressive Care / Telemetry unit
Perform and document continuous cardiac monitoring and respiratory monitoring and management every 2–4 hours
Administer and manage oxygen therapies including nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, and AirVo; conduct vital signs assessment every 4 hours
Monitor blood glucose levels every 4 hours and perform neurological monitoring including NIHSS assessments at any required frequency
Utilize Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pumps, Pyxis, and Meditech documentation system; document all nursing interventions at least every 3–4 hours
Participate in self-scheduling, including 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule, and adhere to unit floating policy as applicable to travel staff
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Kansas or compact state eligibility
ACLS certification required
BLS certification required
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
Minimum 2 years of experience in a PCU, Telemetry, or Step-Down setting
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior experience caring for cardiac and pulmonary patient populations in a step-down or intermediate care environment
Familiarity with Meditech electronic health record documentation system
Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and advanced oxygen therapy modalities
