Travel Nurse RN - Intermediate Care in Puyallup, WA

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across multiple inpatient units including ED Holding, PCU, ICU, and Med-Surg, with flexibility to float within scope of practice
• Manage a varied patient population including respiratory failure, sepsis, CHF, COPD, renal failure, oncology, ortho, and general medical-surgical diagnoses
• Maintain appropriate patient ratios (ICU 1:2, PCU/CCU 1:4, Med-Surg 1:5, Rehab 1:8 team model) and adapt to acuity-based assignments
• Perform skills including cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV medication titration, vent management, trach care, chest tube management, PCA management, and ostomy care as applicable to assigned unit
• Utilize EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Demonstrate strong communication, patient teaching, and education skills while working collaboratively with techs, RT, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of Washington
• ACLS certification required for ICU and PCU assignments
• BLS certification required for all assignments
• NIHSS certification required for ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg assignments
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the applicable care setting (ICU, PCU, or acute care Med-Surg)
• Telemetry competency required; traveler telemetry competency assessment required prior to assignment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with higher-level ICU therapies such as CRRT, hypothermia protocol, or prone positioning
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
• Experience managing isolation patients and non-ambulatory patients in a fast-paced environment
• Comfort with floating across multiple unit types and adapting quickly to varying patient assignments
