Key Responsibilities
- Provide optimal patient care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families
- Deliver moderately complex assessments and moderately intensive therapies and interventions within an 18-bed Intermediate Care Unit serving patients with general medical disease processes including post ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, sepsis, cardiac, and respiratory conditions
- Manage and titrate vasopressors and titratable drips; monitor and care for patients with arterial lines, tracheostomies, and those requiring procedural sedation and thrombolytics
- Read and interpret ECG/telemetry rhythm strips accurately; travelers are required to pass a telemetry competency exam prior to assignment
- Coordinate care collaboratively within a multidisciplinary, patient-centered environment focused on clinical excellence and exceptional patient service
- Float to other units as needed up to competency level; availability to work weekends, major holidays, and one additional shift per four-week schedule period is required
Required Qualifications
- Active Nevada Registered Nurse (RN) license required prior to start date
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of IMC/Stepdown experience required
- Demonstrated experience with vasopressors, titratable drips, arterial lines, neuro-stepdown patients, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and trach management
- Must pass an ECG/Telemetry competency exam (failure results in contract termination)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Medical or Neuro ICU experience preferred
- Experience caring for post-stroke (ischemic and hemorrhagic), sepsis, cardiac, and respiratory patient populations
