    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – PCU / Medical-Surgical Float

    Location

    Roanoke, VA

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Night Shift | 4x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

    Key Responsibilities
    • Float between PCU and Medical-Surgical units as determined by staffing needs, which are re-evaluated every four hours; candidates must be comfortable working all PCU and MS units
    • Provide stepdown-level care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titrating cardiac drips
    • Manage central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
    • Administer IV therapy, perform phlebotomy, and manage blood product administration, PCA protocols, heparin protocols, and IV insulin
    • Respond to emergencies as part of Rapid Response and Code teams
    • Accurately document patient care using EPIC electronic health records
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required at time of submission (pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
    • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
    • Minimum one year of experience in PCU, stepdown, IMC, or DOU-level nursing care
    • Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
    • Demonstrated experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
    • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered; limited exceptions may apply for candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away for a single non-extendable 13-week assignment
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Background in telemetry or cardiovascular care, including pre- and post-cardiac catheterization settings
    • Experience managing endocrine and metabolic conditions
    • Comfort with high-acuity float assignments and variable patient ratios (PCU 5:1; MS up to 7:1)
