Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (6 West PCU)

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Weekend rotation required (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block) | One holiday required per 13-week contract

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a high-acuity, high-turnover Progressive Care Unit focused on chest pain management, MI rule-in/rule-out, and cardiology/medicine overflow
  • Perform continuous cardiac monitoring, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and activate Rapid Response and Code teams as indicated
  • Administer and manage cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose Dopamine/Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Bumex, and Lasix (no titration)
  • Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and maintain central and peripheral line care
  • Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen delivery, and non-invasive airway management
  • Float within skillset as required; care for occasional post-cath patients; utilize remote telemetry and tele-sitting systems
Required Qualifications
  • Active Virginia State RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state)
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR (experience required)
  • Demonstrated competency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
  • Experience with cardiac drip administration and IV/blood product therapy in a PCU or stepdown setting
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior experience in a Progressive Care, Intermediate Care, or Stepdown unit environment
  • Familiarity with post-cardiac catheterization patient care
  • Experience working in a high-volume, high-turnover inpatient unit
