Registered Nurse – Stroke/Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | One holiday per 13-week assignment required | Weekend rotation expected (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a telemetry PCU specializing in stroke, neurology, and hospitalist medicine patients
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (no titration); manage central and peripheral line care
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Maintain isolation precautions and deliver care across PCU, IMC, and stepdown settings; remote telemetry monitoring in use on unit
• Float within skillset as required; EPIC charting required

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia state RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Neuro PCU clinical experience required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may also be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend; locals are accepted under these conditions

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred, though first-time travelers will be considered
• Experience managing IV drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Lidocaine, and Ketamine in a PCU or stepdown environment
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and tele-sitting workflows
