Job Title

Registered Nurse – Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Weekend requirement applies (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block) | One holiday required per 13-week contract

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with neurological conditions including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
  • Monitor and manage cardiac rhythms, including dysrhythmia interpretation, and participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
  • Administer medications including cardiac drips (no titration required), IV therapy, and blood product administration; maintain central and peripheral line care
  • Support patients in 5 dedicated continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring beds
  • Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
  • Float to other units within clinical skillset as needed; maintain isolation precautions per protocol
Required Qualifications
  • Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license (pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
  • Demonstrated competency in cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and medication administration
  • Comfort with a patient ratio of up to 1:5
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior experience in a PCU, IMC, or Stepdown unit setting
  • Background in neurological or neurosurgical nursing care
  • Experience with epilepsy monitoring or stroke care protocols
