Registered Nurse – Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job TypeContract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Weekend requirement applies (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block) | One holiday required per 13-week contract
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with neurological conditions including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
- Monitor and respond to cardiac dysrhythmias; participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
- Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (non-titrating); maintain central and peripheral line care
- Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Monitor patients in dedicated continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring beds
- Maintain isolation precautions and float to other units within clinical skillset as needed
Required Qualifications- Active Virginia state RN license or active Compact RN license (pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
- Competency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and line care
- Comfort with a 1:4–1:5 patient ratio
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior experience in a Neuro PCU, IMC, or Stepdown unit setting
- Familiarity with neurosurgical recovery and stroke management protocols
- Experience with epilepsy monitoring unit care
