Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a Medical Intermediate Care Unit consisting of 42 beds, split between medical-telemetry and intermediate care step-down patients
Manage patient ratios of 1:3 on the intermediate care side and 1:6 on the medical-telemetry side
Care for patients presenting with conditions including PNA, COPD exacerbation, DKA, HHS, ETOH withdrawal, GIB, sepsis, PE, UTI, and respiratory failure
Operate and monitor equipment including trachs, vents, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, and telemetry
Administer and manage cardiac drips and respond to changes in patient condition appropriately
Float to other units as needed and work across both the medical-telemetry and intermediate care sides of the floor
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Massachusetts
Current ACLS certification
Current BLS certification
Demonstrated experience with trachs, vents, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, cardiac drips, and telemetry monitoring
Ability to work across both medical-telemetry and intermediate care patient populations
Preferred Experience / Skills
1–2 years of experience in an intermediate care, step-down, or PCU setting
Prior experience managing a diverse acute patient caseload including sepsis, respiratory failure, and metabolic emergencies
