RN PCU / Stepdown – Cardiac Stepdown Unit

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts | Every Third Weekend | Every Other Holiday
Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in a 22-bed cardiac stepdown unit.
Safely administer and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Amiodarone, Cardene, Dobutamine, and Dopamine.
Manage patients requiring oxygen therapies such as tracheostomies, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen, as well as chest tubes and JP drains (no ventilators or arterial lines).
Serve as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members and communicating with patients and families.
Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and adhering to established standards of practice.
Monitor telemetry in collaboration with available monitor techs and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions with clinical judgment and evidence-based practice.
Required Qualifications
Current RN license in the state of practice or covered under a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
Minimum of 1 year of RN experience with demonstrated Stepdown or PCU experience required.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to direct patient care.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
NIH Stroke Certification required.
Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide available upon request).
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care, including sheath pulls.
Proficiency with Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR).
CCRN or PCCN certification preferred.
Completion of a Critical Care Course preferred.
