Utilize the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for all age groups
Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers and maintain professional accountability
Care for patients including post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, and chest pain presentations
Operate unit equipment including chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
Float as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit and maintain patient rights and confidentiality at all times
Required Qualifications
Current RN license; must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri
Minimum 1 year of inpatient Cardiac Stepdown experience
BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
Flu vaccination required (November 1 – April 1); approved exemptions accepted, declinations are not
Must be available the full orientation week; night shift orients on day shift
Preferred Experience / Skills
NIHSS certification preferred
Experience with EPIC EMR
Familiarity with patient populations including post-op cardiac surgery and respiratory failure
