Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for all age groups
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
- Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers and maintain professional accountability
- Care for patients including post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, and chest pain presentations
- Operate unit equipment including chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
- Float as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit and maintain patient rights and confidentiality at all times
Required Qualifications- Current RN license; must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient Cardiac Stepdown experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Flu vaccination required (November 1 – April 1); approved exemptions accepted, declinations are not
- Must be available the full orientation week; night shift orients on day shift
Preferred Experience / Skills- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience with EPIC EMR
- Familiarity with patient populations including post-op cardiac surgery and respiratory failure
