Travel RN – Cardiac Med Intermediate (Stepdown) – Nights

Location

Saint Louis, MO | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 16-Week Assignment | Night Shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week | Every other weekend required | No call requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to perform direct patient care activities for all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort, including post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, and chest pain patients
• Operate and manage unit-specific equipment including chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
• Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers and maintain professional accountability
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable standards
• Float as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit; night shift orientation occurs on day shift — traveler must be available the entire orientation week

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license — must meet criteria for eligibility for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient Cardiac Stepdown experience
• Flu vaccination (or facility-approved exemption) required for assignments running November 1 – April 1; declinations are not accepted
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team player and contribute to a positive unit culture
