Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a mixed-acuity MS/PCU unit (29 beds) managing patient populations including respiratory failure, sepsis, GIB, bariatric post-op, diabetic, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, acute SNF, and TIA/stroke rule-out
Maintain RN-to-patient ratios of 1:4 (PCU) and 1:5 (MS/MT), collaborating with CNA support for vitals, blood glucose checks, toileting, bathing, and feeding
Perform telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation; manage central lines, tubes, drains, and IV therapy; administer and monitor common medications including Cardizem, Dopamine, heparin, nitro, Lasix, and Dilaudid
Conduct CIWA assessments and manage BiPAP as needed within scope of practice
Complete bedside handoff each shift and maintain accurate whiteboard documentation per shift expectations
Float as needed to ED Holding and overflow areas; travelers are expected to float first
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Washington (or compact eligibility)
Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required; first-time travelers considered with strong, relevant experience
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Demonstrated skills in telemetry, CIWA, BiPAP, central line maintenance/management, tube/drain management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and IV therapy
Traveler Telemetry Competency exam must be completed and passed prior to start date (graded by SimpliFi Compliance)
Proficiency or experience with EPIC charting system preferred for compliance with facility charting requirements
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with chest tube management and trach care
Home ventilator management experience
Familiarity with Alaris infusion pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
Prior EPIC charting experience strongly preferred
