Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Stepdown/PCU unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–6 depending on acuity
Manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips including cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and angiomax
Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, perform measurements, print strips, and identify cardiac rhythms independently
Care for patients with diagnoses including cardiac conditions, post-cath lab recovery, post-pneumonia, seizures, ETOH/CIWA protocols, and pacemaker management
Troubleshoot respiratory equipment (BiPAP, Airvo, trachs) in coordination with Respiratory Therapy staff assigned to the unit
Float to other inpatient units as needed; travelers are first to float per unit policy
Required Qualifications
Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license – any licensing history or hits must be disclosed at time of submission
Minimum 2 years of Stepdown, PCU, or IMC nursing experience
Current BLS certification (must be unexpired)
Current ACLS certification (must be unexpired)
Demonstrated comfort with cardiac monitoring and management of cardiac drips
Ability to read, interpret, and document telemetry rhythms independently
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with CIWA protocol management and ETOH-related patient populations
Familiarity with pacemaker monitoring and post-procedural cardiac patient care
Prior experience working alongside monitor technicians and respiratory therapy teams in a step-down environment
