Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 34.5 hours per week Experience: 1 year in Interventional Radiology License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: Proficient in IV starts Description: The position involves managing patients in all three phases of procedures: pre, intra, and post. Assessment and charting are conducted as per the Radiology Flowsheet. The nurse will communicate with the physician and mid-level providers about the care plan or any changes in the patient's condition. The role requires IV insertions and CT preparations for scheduled patients. Common procedures include various biopsies and complex vascular interventions. Nurses will assist in pain management injections and the placement of lines such as Permcaths, PICCs, and ports. The average number of procedures performed daily is between five and eight. The unit operates with a team of seven nurses, and the charge nurse coordinates and manages the workflow. Nurses may need to assist in both interventional and diagnostic areas when necessary. The documentation process consists of both electronic and paper charting based on the modality and procedure. Nurses are expected to have critical care exposure as a bonus. There will be no call requirements for nights and weekends, as there are permanent staff on duty. The unit is not expected to float outside of the interventional procedures. Scrub colors will be royal blue, and surgical scrubs may be worn as necessary. Initial evaluation of new staff will occur after three shifts to determine any additional support required.
