Perform head-to-toe patient assessments, recognize and respond to complications as they arise, and provide effective patient care in a fast-paced interventional radiology environment
Administer and monitor procedural sedation (Versed, Fentanyl, Lidocaine, Nitroglycerin Spray, Cefazolin, Levaquin) for both invasive and non-invasive procedures including port placements/removals, tunneled and non-tunneled line placements, CT-guided biopsies, chest tube placements, IVC filter placements/removals, nephrostomy tubes, and neurovascular intervention for stroke
Provide sedation monitoring for non-invasive procedures such as MRIs, and perform port access/deaccess and MRI defibrillator/cardiac device monitoring
Explain procedures to patients and family members, address concerns, and communicate patient needs to radiologists and other team members
Circulate for OR/procedural cases and operate common unit equipment including ISTAT, ACT Machine, Penumbra, IV pumps, and vital sign monitors at a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio during procedural sedation
Implement radiation safety measures as applicable and adapt quickly to shifting priorities across departments
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Proficiency in IV insertion, PICC/central line management, and vascular device access and care
Telemetry interpretation and cardioversion/defibrillation skills
Competency in procedural sedation administration and monitoring
Ability to circulate for procedural/OR cases
Ability to make critical decisions independently and manage multiple responsibilities across departments
Preferred Experience / Skills
CVP monitoring experience
Sheath removal experience
Familiarity with infrequent IR procedures such as chemoembolizations and uterine artery embolizations
