Key Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients, documenting responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
- Assists physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures; notes all changes in physician orders
- Obtains and monitors physiological data, observes patient manifestations, and intervenes when necessary
- Administers medications as prescribed; initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products
- Educates patients and families on care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge instructions; makes referrals to appropriate personnel as needed
- Oversees and delegates tasks to technicians and support staff while delivering competent, specialized patient care
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association — required upon hire
- ACLS (American Heart Association) certification required within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Ability to organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services; strong verbal and written communication skills; basic computer proficiency
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a Board Approved Program
- Ability to function independently in a specialty area following completion of orientation
- Experience working effectively as part of a team providing specialized patient care
- Demonstrated ability to respond to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
