Job Summary:
Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery Post-Partum (L&D PP) on the postpartum floor in Spokane, Washington. This role entails providing specialized care to postpartum and low-risk ante-partum patients, assisting with breastfeeding, newborn care, and performing assessments for mothers and babies. The position requires independent initiation of discharge teaching, neonatal vaccinations, and thorough patient evaluations.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing licensure, BLS certification, at least 1 year of Mother-Baby/Postpartum experience, and a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) proficiency, lactation consulting experience, and neonatal lab and phlebotomy skills.
  • Patient Types: Post-partum and low-risk ante-partum patients.
  • Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 3-4 mother-baby couplets.
  • Support on the Unit: Receptionist/Human Resources Coordinator coverage 7 days per week until 0100, charge nurse in assignment, lactation nurses from 0730-1600 daily, clinical nursing assistant nurse managers (day and night shifts), and in-house hospitalist/OB and anesthesia available 24/7.
  • Technology/Equipment: EMR system preferred EPIC, IV pumps (Alaris), Pyxis medication dispensing, and voluntary floating to Medical Surgical or NICU as needed.
  • Orientation: NEO 3-shift orientation with preceptors; night shift orientation includes 1 day shift and 2 night shifts.
  • Holiday and Time Off: Ability to take up to 7 days RTO; holiday coverage includes at least one winter and one summer holiday.
  • Additional Notes: Scrubs may be any color, and free designated parking is available. The unit fosters a team-oriented, helpful, and positive culture with high staff retention.
