Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of L&D experience.

Details

• Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital with 637 licensed beds
• Unit includes 9 labor beds, 3 ORs, 4 PACUs, 11 antepartum beds, 4 triage bays, and 27 postpartum beds
• Daily census of 2-14 L&D patients
• Cares for laboring, antepartum, and triage patients, as well as PACU and OR cases
• Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines for RN ratios
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts on a 6-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to all adult med surg/telemetry units in house
• EPIC EMR used
• Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Unit-specific equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova glucose stat strips, cardiac telemetry monitoring, portable vital sign monitors, PCA pumps, bladder scanners, and suction machines

Requirements

• Active RN license, GA or compact license required
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certifications required
• Must pass a Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) EKG competency exam as part of compliance
• Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core work experience in unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
• Strong clinical assessment and L&D skills suited for a Level 1 Trauma hospital
• Experience with IV insertion and care, and central line management
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams including RT, hospitalists, intensivists, and OB physicians available 24/7
• Support staff includes 2 OB Surg Techs per shift, CNAs, unit secretaries, and a PICC team
• Charge nurse may carry a patient assignment
• 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules, plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for one shift during each major holiday period (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's)
• RTO requests require manager approval
• Navy scrubs required for RN staff, with a scrub exchange system in place
• Unit culture described as busy with a strong team-based approach
