Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery/LDRP to provide exceptional, patient-centered care throughout the labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum continuum. This position requires a nurse who is experienced in both Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby nursing and is comfortable caring for diverse patient populations in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The RN will provide comprehensive obstetric care while working closely with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe maternal and newborn outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and newborn patients.
Assess, monitor, and document maternal and fetal conditions throughout the labor and delivery process.
Perform obstetrical triage and monitor fetal well-being using external fetal monitoring (EFM).
Circulate during Cesarean section procedures.
Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and emergency interventions in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for mothers and newborns.
Educate patients and families on labor, postpartum recovery, newborn care, breastfeeding, and discharge planning.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver safe, evidence-based care.
Float between Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby units based on patient care needs.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation while adhering to organizational and regulatory standards.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Active Tennessee Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Multistate RN License.
Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
First-time travelers must have at least 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience.
Experience in both Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby nursing.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
S.T.A.B.L.E. certification.
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification or MAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) accepted in lieu of CPI.
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous travel nursing experience.
Experience working in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) settings.
Experience circulating during Cesarean sections.
Schedule
13-week travel contract
36 hours per week
Three 12-hour night shifts
Shift Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Every other weekend required.
Floating between Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby units is required.

Additional Information
Candidates must be comfortable caring for a diverse patient population, including correctional patients.
Self-scheduling is utilized when available.
Orientation includes classroom education followed by department-specific clinical orientation.
COVID-19 vaccination is required (medical and religious exemptions considered).
Annual influenza vaccination is required (medical exemptions only).
