Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in a Level III Trauma Center located in Puyallup, WA. This hospital specializes in maternity services, including antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum care, with a focus on high-risk pregnancies and neonatal intensive care. The role involves providing clinical care to a diverse patient population, following established guidelines for patient ratios and safety protocols.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with the cycle made in 3-week increments. Every other weekend rotation. No on-call responsibilities.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license in the state, BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), fetal monitoring certification (AWHONN or Relias module). Minimum of 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cervical exams, antepartum and labor management, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV insertion, Pitocin administration, postpartum and couplet care experience, breastfeeding support, and familiarity with security systems and medication dispensing using Pyxis.
• Float: Will only float to areas where competence is demonstrated; will not float to START unit.
• Additional Information:
  Support within the department includes no Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) on the unit, with surgery technicians phased out, phlebotomy available, and NICU attendance required for pregnancies at 34 weeks or less. RT staff available 24/7 for high-risk deliveries or abnormal strip interpretation. Equipment used includes EMR systems (EPIC Stork, GE Centricity), Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing. Orientation includes facility and unit-specific training, and completion of annual core competencies is required before arrival.
