Labor & Delivery RN – Silverdale, WA

Unit: Birthing Center / Mother Baby / L&D
Shift: Nights
Weekend Requirement: Nights (Fri and Sat)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (91 contract weeks available)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Cancellation Policy: Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for assignments under 13 weeks)
Note: No first-time travelers — director requires 2 years of references submitted with the submission email
Tax Note: Medical Solutions auto-deducts the 1.75% WA state tax; can be re-added

Facility Details:

• Charting System: EPIC
• 13 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, 14 postpartum beds
• ~170–190 births/month (2,104 deliveries in 2025)
• Ratios: 1:2 L&D, 1:3–4 couplets (AWHONN guidelines followed)
• Common diagnoses: 32 weeks and above, high risk, preeclampsia, diabetic, psych/social issues, positive elicit substance use
• Must titrate drips (magnesium, Pitocin, insulin)
• Free charge nurse both shifts; 1 surgical tech 24/7; patient care assistant with clerical duties each shift
• 24/7 in-house OB/GYN hospitalist; 24/7 NNP in nursery; 24/7 in-house OB anesthesia with call room
• RT typically assigned to family birth
• Tele/monitor techs: yes, for PACU after C-sections
• EFM System: Centricity-Perinatal
• Block scheduling available upon request
• BSN not required
• License to Submit: Yes, willing to wait

Scheduling/Call:

• Weekend requirement: every other (Days: Sat/Sun; Nights: Fri/Sat)
• Holidays rotate in with permanent staff
• Standby call: 45-minute response time when placed on standby
• No floating outside Mother Baby/Postpartum unit (no NICU floating) — labor travelers must also function in postpartum with routine mom/baby competencies, transition babies, and attend low-risk deliveries
