Job Summary: The Postpartum Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in a healthcare environment specializing in postpartum and labor and delivery care. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to postpartum patients, assisting with labor and delivery processes, and supporting maternal-newborn health education. The position is scheduled for days shifts, facilitating optimal patient and staff interaction during core hours.
Job Details:
Schedule: Days shifts, 12 hours per day, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: 3 years of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience; graduate of an accredited nursing program; valid Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided); Basic Life Support; Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program; demonstrated ability to perform electronic fetal monitoring; proficient in IV skills and lab draws; knowledge of high-risk medication administration including Magnesium, Oxytocin, and Insulin; experienced in urine point of care testing and capillary blood glucose testing; knowledgeable in use of IStat; skilled in adult cardiac monitoring and newborn monitors including pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring; capable of heel sticks and venipuncture on newborns; proficient in newborn medication administration, IV maintenance, Bili-blankets/lights, and radiant warmers; able to support gynecology teaching and postpartum bladder training; and able to support maternal-newborn education.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field; minimum of three (3) years of labor and delivery and postpartum experience; at least one (1) year of medical/surgical nursing experience.
Additional Information: Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate skills in neonatal and maternal assessments, medication administration, and maternal-infant teaching to ensure quality patient care and safety during the postpartum and labor/delivery process.
