Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the Labor & Delivery unit provides care to pregnant patients with various risk factors or complications. This role involves managing patient care, including high-risk cases, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team within a Level 3 NICU environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage high acuity labor patients including those with preeclampsia and preterm labor.
• Perform IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, and administer medications such as magnesium sulfate and insulin.
• Circulate during C-sections and provide care during C-section recovery.
• Provide couplet care and manage normal newborn nursery patients.
• Work variable shifts including days and nights, with weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed.

Requirements:

• Current BLS and NRP certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years Labor and Delivery experience in a Level 3 or higher unit.
• EPIC charting experience and competency in managing high-risk labor patients.
• Completion of an approved nursing education program; Registered Nurse - South Dakota Board of Nursing.
